Black Rhino Protection Fund

What is the Black Rhino Protection Fund?

The Black Rhino Protection Fund plays a crucial role in safeguarding critically endangered black rhinos from the rampant threat of poaching by providing essential financial and material support to black rhino protection projects. Through this fund, conservation efforts are bolstered with resources necessary for implementing robust anti-poaching measures, such as employing more rangers, investing in advanced surveillance technologies, and enhancing habitat protection. These initiatives not only deter poachers but also enable more effective monitoring of black rhino populations, facilitating timely interventions to address any emerging threats.

Furthermore, the Black Rhino Protection Fund contributes to the sustainable management of black rhino habitats, ensuring the availability of suitable environments for these majestic creatures to thrive. By supporting initiatives focused on habitat restoration and conservation, the fund helps mitigate the impact of habitat loss and fragmentation, which are significant challenges faced by black rhinos.

About Rhinos

Because the animals’ horns are used in folk medicine for their supposed healing properties, rhinos have been hunted nearly to extinction. Their horns are sometimes sold as trophies or decorations, but more often they are ground up and used in traditional medicine.
